We are using bikes and cars without knowing what is cc and what is bhp. Here is the chance to update our knowledge. Horsepower is the amount of "power" the engine produces without any frictional losses. 1 mechanical horsepower = 33,000 ft-lbs per minute.
BHP is "brake horsepower" which is how much power is located at the crankshaft after factoring in frictional losses caused by the engine (bhp is less than hp, because after passing through the engine, friction and heat cause the amount of original horsepower to decrease.)
CC is "cubic centimeters" which is how many cubic centimeters of air that the engine displaces (sucks in) in the given amount of cylinder bores in the engine (ci is used in American motors; ex: 454ci (popular Chevy engine) 351ci (popular Ford engine) 440ci (popular Chrysler engine)).
A cylinder is the bore (space) in which the piston moves in the engine (the radius of the cylinder squared times pi times depth of the cylinder multiplied by how many cylinders there are equals the "CC" of an engine; ex: volume of cylinder * 8 cylinders (for an eight cylinder engine) = the "CC" or "CI" of the engine).
I hope the information I have provided here is usefull to you. Keep visiting my site for more usefull informations thank you..

how can the "bhp" be changed keeping the "cc" constant. for example yamaha r15 is 150cc n is 17bhp. whereas yamaha fz16 is also 150cc but is only 14bhp. what is that which determines the "bhp"? what component or what parameters are changed in engines to attain higher bhp's keeping the same "cc"?
cc means size of the engine, both fz16 and r15's bikes having the same size of engine, and its delivering different amount of POWER. So cc means only size and its not directly proportional to power.
Can any one tune and increase the bhp of our bike, suppose i want to increase my bikes BHP to 17 from 14, is it possible? though seems i am asking a silly question...but see any one starts getting literate after they know "a,b,c.."So... plz answer...
Hai this is sam this informations are very useful to me thanksme thanks
the equation of cc/displacement of an engine that is given is wrong.........
Engine displacement is determined from the bore and stroke of an engine's cylinders. The bore is the diameter of the circular chambers cut into the cylinder block.
the right equation is----
displacement= (22/7)*(1/4)*squre of bore*stroke*number of cylinders
thanks , its easy and good to understand ..........
suppose i want to increase my bike speed so how i can increase he bike speed.
Thanks for sharing all these things........ Sunil
thanks
Tnx man... u all knw so much.join a pit crew..
Fz is only air cooled and it uses a carburetor for fuel supply where as r12 is oil cooled and is fuel injected..more over the piston is made of high quality in r 15 compared to fz and other engine parts..all these results the less no. Of hp's in fz..
It's not size of engine,, it's the amount of fuel injected to the piston,, I normal words we can say high Cc vechial will not have more mileage this is due to more fuel is required for a high Cc vehicle to deliver high power
12hp means how much cc
